My husband is not a pastor but a riitualiist – Episode 33
“He called his nurses, and in my presence, he asked them if they had ever run tests on late Joseph Nwachukwu’s children. They all said ‘No.’ He wondered why I was so curious and thought something bad had happened to you or your siblings.”
“I assured him that everything was fine and then left to avoid raising suspicions about anything bad happening. I was concealing it from him.”
“That’s when everything started to make sense, and I realized my suspicion about you was never wrong. I immediately called Ebuka, who usually picks up your siblings from school since his children also attend the same school.”
“I asked him to bring them to my office after school instead of dropping them off at their house, explaining that I wanted to see them. He brought them to my office in the afternoon.”
“I took Jacob and Ruth to my office since they are the ones who always looked after James, Mercy, and Peace when they were sick. I asked the others to wait in the waiting room.”
“I wanted to confirm what the doctor had told me, so I asked them whether you had taken James, Mercy, and Peace to your family doctor or any other doctor or hospital on the Sunday when I gave you some money for that purpose.”
“They informed me that after all of you had returned home from my office that Sunday, they went out to find something to eat for Monday morning. When they came back, they found you frying lizards.”
“I was puzzled when I learned they had started begging for food on the streets, a fact I was unaware of. I also couldn’t understand why they continued to do so on Monday morning, even after I had given you 50,000 naira on Sunday. That amount should have been sufficient to acquire the necessary medications for your siblings and purchase some foodstuffs.”
“I didn’t give you that money out of abundance; you were well aware that the church was in dire need of funds during that period.”
“In reality, the money I provided was contributed by a few brethren after the Sunday service to support the church’s mission. I handed it all to you out of compassion, not wanting to stand idly by as your pastor while your siblings suffered and battled illness.”
“My hope was that the money would provide enough sustenance for you and your siblings for at least a month. This situation left me bewildered, unsure of where to begin questioning.”
“Should I inquire as to why you never informed me about the extreme difficulties your family faced, resulting in your young siblings having to roam the dãñgerous streets of Abuja in search of food?”
“Can you explain to me what happened to the 50,000 naira I provided for purchasing medication for your siblings and obtaining provisions that could last for at least a month?”
“Could you clarify why you didn’t follow my instruction to take your siblings to the family doctor, and whether you acquired any medications for them from a pharmacist?”
“Or can you shed light on the matter of what you were doing with lizards and, in God’s name, why you were frying them?”
“What have you been involved in lately, Peter? What led you to deliberately keep me in the dark about your family’s challenges all this time? Why did you opt to endure your difficulties silently, without notifying either me or the church of your predicaments?”
“Did your three siblings just fall sick, or were you somehow involved in their illness? Who were you collaborating with, Peter? What actions did you take, and for what purpose? What were your intentions?”
“What prompted you to keep both me and the church in the dark? Haven’t I been supportive of you since the day you lost your parents?”
“If it wasn’t for God revealing the depth of this matter to me last night, uncovering the darkness behind your siblings’ illness from six years ago.”
“I was on the verge of appointing you as a pastor of one of our branches due to your dedication to the church’s growth over the years. Your contributions have been immense, starting when we had just 3,000 members. Your service and prayers played a pivotal role in our transformation into a well-known institution in Abuja.”
“In light of these achievements, I had chosen to entrust you with a significant role within the church. This opportunity would have allowed you to further spread the gospel and serve as a powerful instrument for revival in God’s hands.”
“But God according to the book of Jeremiah 17:10, who searches the heart and examines the mind to reward each person according to their conduct and what their deeds deserve.”
“God granted me a revelation on the very night preceding your appointment, which led me to uncover numerous questionable activities you engaged in behind closed doors.”
“While I may not possess all the intricate details of your actions, Peter, I implore you to honestly confess everything you’ve done that you’re not proud of.”
“Please realize that this isn’t a mere coincidence. God deliberately exposed your actions today, not to condemn you, but to rescue you from whatever entanglement you’ve found yourself in secretly.”
“He could have done so six years ago when the situation was fresh and intense, but God’s decisions are beyond human questioning. He alone comprehends why He chose not to reveal this truth to either me or Frank until this moment. Today could potentially mark the day of salvation for you, Peter.”
“The bible says in 1st John chapter 1 verse 9; ‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.'”
“Enough of hiding. Be straightforward with me and share all the details I need to be aware of. There’s no need to be fearful; I might still consider appointing you as a pastor of a branch in the future, though not at this moment.”
“Remember that no one is without flaws, and that’s why Christ sacrificed Himself on the cross. When we transgress, we can confess our sins to Him and receive forgiveness.”
“Peter, we can discuss why you didn’t communicate your hardships, which led your siblings to beg for food on the streets, on another day. What I’m seeking to understand today is the cause of your siblings’ illness. What actions did you take? Whom did you associate with, and what were your intentions behind their sickness or dēãth?”
